The Colour Orange

Hate the colour orange and never use it in your quilts?
Here is an interesting take on the colour by Judy Bellingham

There is a LOT more to range than "prison Orange"!

Greyville Show

Tollgate Quilters Guild took a stand at the annual hobby/craft show at Greyville Race course last weekend amid a deluge of rain.
We hung quilts, demonstrated the craft of patchwork and quilting and generally hung out with crafters of all persuasions-including a few quilters.

Its a great venue for us to promote quilting as a craft and hopefully we have inspired visitors to the show to try their hand at it.

Free Patterns

I have just been sent a link to a website with lots of free patterns. Some of them are rather interesting- simple enough for beginners but interesting enough for more advanced quilters.
Here it is:

This is one of them   Calliope Free Project Sheet

Palette Builder

Someone on one of my lists posted this link for a palette builder  -called "Palette Builder".

Palette Builder

All you need to do is put up a photo, set the number of colours you want and what kind of colours and it will give you a list. How easy is that??!!

Here is what I did:

This has GOT to be fun!

Don't know about the second  photo, but the first photo has got my brain cells out of retirement!

Natal Quilters Academy

I came across this international site this evening.

Sew4Home

A pity I wasn't told about it sooner so that I could have put the link on this blog, shortly after the event.

It's this kind of thing that advertises KZNQG far better than just telling our friends.

Here is a plea: If you know of something quilty going on in your part of Kwazulu Natal, PLEASE let me know.
